George H. Hermann Statue by Lonnie Edwards
Created in 1981 by Lonnie Edwards and donated to Houston by the Hermann Hospital Board of Trustees, a bronze statue of George Hermann stands on a large pedestal of pink granite in the park that bears his name. A Houston native, George H. Hermann acquired great wealth through several businesses and brought about the establishment of Hermann Park and Hermann Square, which sits adjacent to Houston’s 1939-era City Hall. Hermann Hospital, across the street from the park, is the result of a bequest in his will.
