Shell Houston Open - Vijay Singh

The PGA TOUR’s Shell Houston Open has been hosted at the Golf Club of Houston, formerly the Redstone Golf Club since 2003. The tournament was established in 1946 as the Houston Open, and the inaugural event was won by Byron Nelson. The tournament has been sponsored by Michelob, Coca-Cola, Independent Insurance and now Shell, a Houston-based multinational oil company. The tournament is held a week before the Masters Tournament, giving the field its final opportunity to qualify for the major by winning the Texas tournament.
