Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston – 2006

Held in 2006 on May 13, the second round of the 2006 Champ Car World Series returned to Houston for the second year in a row. The first night-time street course race in the organization’s history, the race was held on a temporary 1.7-mile street circuit on the Reliant Park complex instead of its previous location on the streets of Downtown Houston. The event followed an American Le Mans Series event and Lone Star Grand Prix event the night before, marking it as only the second time Champ Car and American Le Mans promoted their own events in the same city on the same weekend.
