The Kinkaid School
Located in the city of Piney Point Village, a small enclave of Houston’s Memorial area, The Kinkaid School is a private high school that is purported to be the “oldest independent coeducational school in Houston.” The school was founded in 1906 by public school teacher, Margaret Hunter Kinkaid, when she learned that married women were not allowed to be teachers in her district. Since its inception, The Kinkaid School has had three physical locations: Kinkaid’s home, on Richmond and Graustark in the Montrose neighborhood and its current location in Piney Point Village in the Memorial area of Houston. Today, this college preparatory day school enrolls boys and girls in Grades prekindergarten through 12 with students ranging from ages four years to 18.
