Crystal Ballroom

The Crystal Ballroom is a historic 1913 venue located in the heart of Downtown Houston at the former Rice Hotel. One of Houston’s most unique and historic landmarks, the Crystal Ballroom is resplendent with crystal chandeliers, heroic murals, 35-foot ceilings, a soaring 18th-century fireplace and a full wraparound terrace. Originally the Capitol of the Republic of Texas, it is here that General Sam Houston walked the grounds, weighed concerns for Texas, and First Lady Jackie Kennedy made her one and only political speech to Texas representatives of LULAC. Other notable stars to grace the Crystal Ballroom include Clark Gable, Will Rogers, Perry Como, Shirley Temple and Mick Jagger.
