Chef Chris Shepherd perfectly tells the Story of Houston Food at Underbelly. The restaurant shares the chef’s culinary journey in a city that he describes as “the most secretive and dynamic culinary destination in the country.” Beneath the well-known oily surface is an array of local ingredients and cultures that have shaped Chef Shepherd’s unique perspectives on food. This first solo effort from Shepherd in Montrose’s Restaurant Row features a New American menu that showcases the area’s rich local bounty as well as Houston’s diverse cultural tapestry with on-site butchering, which is evident on the plate.
