St. Joseph Medical Center

Opening in 1887, as Houston’s first hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center has provided an ever-increasing range of services to residents in the Greater Houston area. As the first and only downtown hospital in Houston, St. Joseph become the city’s first medical teaching facility and provider of maternity care, emergency medicine, x-ray technology and more. Today, the facility continues to bring cutting-edge technology and services to the community via the main campus, which covers eight city blocks at the edge of Downtown Houston.
