Memorial Hermann with METRORail
Founded in 1925, Memorial Hermann was the first hospital opened as part of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. The primary teaching hospital for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School, Memorial Hermann provides leading-edge care in an array of critical medical fields. Also, as one of only two certified Level I trauma centers in the greater Houston area, Memorial Hermann provides 24/7 emergency and trauma care as well as the Memorial Hermann Life Flight air ambulance service, which provides emergency rescue within a 150-mile radius, flying more than 140,000 missions since its inception. METRORAIL A fast and convenient way to travel quickly and cost-effectively across many of the urban areas of Houston, the METRORail light rail line began operation in 2004 with the 13-mile north-south Red Line. Ranking as the second most traveled light rail system in the southern United States and the 12th in the entire country, the METRORail Red Line was expanded in 2013, extending its service northward to the Northline Transit Center. In 2015, two new lines (the 3.3-mile Green Line and 6.6-mile Purple Line) were opened with transfer stations available in the Houston Theater District. Future plans include two additional lines as of yet unfunded.
