Bullfighters

An exciting part of all Rodeo Houston performances, the Bullfighters risk life and limb to protect the competition’s animals and the cowboys trying to master the massive rodeo beasts. Often dressed as clowns, bullfighters divert the attention of the bulls away from an escaping or injured rider by any means necessary—popping out of an open-ended barrel, sprinting into its path or even jumping on top of it—to prevent harm to others. In today’s professional rodeos, the event will have at least two Bullfighters whose sole responsibility is to protect the fallen cowboys after their dismount from the beast.
