Shell Eco-marathon
A unique competition that challenges students around the world to design, build and drive the most energy-efficient car, the Shell Eco-marathon has three annual events in Asia, Americas and Europe. Sparking excellent debate about the future of mobility and inspiring young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency, the events bring the best and brightest young minds to the forefront. After a year of preparation, teams of bright student engineers take their self-built mobile creations to the track to see who can go the furthest of the least fuel in urban circuits. The Shell Eco-marathon has been around in Europe since 1939 when it was born at a Shell research lab while the modern event began in France in 1985. In 2007, the Americas event kicked off, and Asia joined in the fun in 2010.
