Houston Celtic Festival and Highland Games

The Celts “invade” Houston in late April every year for a weekend of music, competitions, food and fun at the Houston Celtic Festival and Highland Games, a family-friendly event celebrating the culture, music, arts and sports of the Celtic nations. Held at the Houston Farm & Ranch Club and presented by the Houston Highland Games Association, the festival features competitions in bagpipe, Highland dance and Scottish heavy athletics while children have their own athletic competitions like a wee caber to toss. Exhibitions include the clans (Scottish families), genealogists, historians and artists as well as a Celtic Market, which offers a treasure trove of shopping for everything from kilts and tartan sashes to musical instrument and jewelry. Food vendors also Scottish cuisine, including haggis, Highland Beef burgers, meat pies and American festival favorites.
