Lancaster Hotel
A beautiful small and luxurious hotel located in the downtown theater district, The Lancaster was built in 1926 as the Auditorium Hotel by Houston investor Michele DeGeorge and features Italian Renaissance detailing in the upper stories. Originally built across from the City Auditorium, now Jones Hall, the hotel dates back to birth of the Houston Theater District and was a Houston Landmark during the city’s commercial development as regular guests at the Auditorium Hotel included theatrical stars performing at the neighboring theaters. In 1983, the hotel was renamed the Lancaster Hotel and became Houston’s first boutique hotel. It is Houston’s oldest continually operating hotel and remains the only historic hotel in the city owned by descendants of the original developer. Today, the local landmark has the charm of a traditional Houston hotel while offering tranquility and comfort for guests can relax amid distinctive décor, original 19th-century art and beautiful furnishings with outstanding service.
