The ICE at Discovery Green

Houston’s spectacular open-air ice skating rink, The Ice at Discovery Green appears in the transformed model boat basin on Kinder Lake each November. An amazing engineering wonder in balmy Houston, the ice encourages locals to lace up their skates and take a spin around the largest outdoor ice rink in the Southwest. Inspiring by a local love story on ice, The Ice is dedicated to Houstonians Jack Bennett and Evelyn Hoop Bennett who met in 1936 on the ice at Houston’s old Polar Wave Ice Palace, just blocks away from Discovery Green, and skated well into their 80s.
