Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston - 2014
On June 27–29, 2014, NRG Park was transformed into the 1.7-mile, 10-turn MD Anderson Cancer Center Speedway for the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by the Greater Houston Honda Dealers. Aired on NBC Sports, this high-octane Verizon IndyCar doubleheader featured two individual races as well as supporting races, including the Mazda MX-5 Cup featuring grids of 30-plus Mazda MX-5s on spec tires and the Pro Mazda Championship race presented by Cooper Tires that showcased the future stars of IndyCar. New additions on the Houston circuit this year included the Gulf Coast Vintage Racing Series with sedan and open-wheel racing and the UK-produced Radical sportscar, which gave fans and enthusiasts an opportunity to get on the track as a passenger in the Radical SR3 SL or the Radical RXC Coupe. This three-day festival of speed also offered a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment to complement the world-class racing.
