Holocaust Museum Houston
Opened in 1996, the Holocaust Museum Houston is the fourth largest Holocaust memorial museum in the country. With the mission of making people aware of the dangers that prejudice, hatred and violence during the Holocaust and reminding them of their relevance today. As such, the museum promotes understanding, remembrance and education so everyone can become aware of the lesson inherent in these tragic events. The Permanent Exhibit ends with the continuously running 30-minute films “Voices” and “Voices II,” which share the lessons of the Holocaust from the mouths of Houston-area residents who lived through it. The museum’s newest additions include an authentic 1942 World War II railcar used to carry millions of Jews to their deaths and a 1942 Danish fishing boat that saved more than 7,200 Danish Jews from certain death.
