Wings of the City - Jorge Marín

From September 5, 2014, to February 8, 2015, Discovery Green featured nine magnificent bronze sculptures by Mexican artist Jorge Marín called Wings of the City. On view throughout the park, its aim was to foster community and offer Houstonians a place to gather, reflect and celebrate. The traveling sculptures have been in more than 200 exhibits worldwide and were viewed by more than 1 million people on Mexico’s Paseo de la Reforma, the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts and Discovery Green. The bronze sculptures reflect the intrinsic strength and force that emanates from its creation and lets him construct dynamic bodies that challenge gravity and rotate in space supported on one point.
