Synchronicity of Color
An iconic art piece and photo-opportunity favorite at Discovery Green is Synchronicity of Color, better known as the “art boxes.” The ensemble was commissioned by the park and implemented by the Houston Arts Alliance and the City during the master planning of the park by Margo Sawyer, who believed the park would benefit from color. Sawyer fabricated the four metal box sculptures—“blue,” “red” and their two echoes, “orange” at The Grove and a mix of colors at HPL Express—and painted them with paint used on drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
