Chuck Wagon Races

A staple event since the 1920s, the Chuck Wagon Races are highly popular at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Here, three stripped-down, eight-foot, wooden-wheeled wagons roll onto the dirt with a single cowboy aboard. At the drop of a flag drops, the drivers embark on this Old West version of a chariot race, negotiating the curves of the arena at up to 40 miles per hour.
