American Quarter Horse Racing

The Bayou City’s premier horse racing track, Sam Houston Race Park, features Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse racing. Opened on April 24, 1994 it is widely considered the fastest growing race track in America. Sam Houston Race Park hosts Thoroughbred racing from late January through early March and American Quarter Horse racing from early March through mid-May. The rest of the year the park is open for simulcast racing happening around the United States and is available as a concert and private events venue.
