Art Car Parade

The annual Houston Art Car Parade is the first and largest celebration of its kind in the world. Including every type of rolling art imaginable, throughout the years spectators have witnessed cars, bicycles, motorcycles, roller skaters and all kinds of motorized and human-powered vehicles decorated in a variety of themes. Classic cars, lowriders highly modified roadworthy vehicles also show up on the scene. Begun in 1986 with 11 decorated vehicles parading down Montrose Boulevard, it became a tradition in 1988 as 40 vehicles were featured as a part of the Houston International Festival. In recent years, the Houston Art Car Parade travels down Allen Parkway and features more than 250 vehicles from 23 states, Canada and Mexico.
