Annual Procession and Wreath-laying Ceremony

Standing as public recognition of the sacrifices made by police officers, and particularly those who have died in the line of duty, the Houston Police Officer Memorial in Buffalo Bayou Park is the site of an annual procession and wreath-laying ceremony in their honor. Designed as a 120-foot-square Greek cross with a stepped pyramid at the middle, the monument also features a reflecting pool surrounded by pink granite slabs incised with the names of more than 80 fallen police officers. Officers guard the monument all day and night.
