Texas Medical Center with METRORail
As the largest medical complex in the world, the Texas Medical Center (TMC) has one of the highest densities of clinical facilities for patient care, basic science and translational research. The TMC leads the world in advancing life sciences through collaboration, creativity and innovation. It is also the eighth largest business district in the United States and is ever-expanding. A fast and convenient way to travel quickly and cost-effectively across many of the urban areas of Houston, the METRORail light rail line began operation in 2004 with the 13-mile north-south Red Line. Ranking as the second most traveled light rail system in the southern United States and the 12th in the entire country, the METRORail Red Line was expanded in 2013, extending its service northward to the Northline Transit Center. Stops include downtown, the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center and NRG Park.
