Notsouh
Notsuoh (Houston spelled backwards) is an iconic downtown bar, music and arts/performance venue owned by Jim Pirtle that has achieved a legendary, mythical reputation for weirdness. An electric art dive, it is the result combining a historical building with the collection of a thrift-store junkie. Some wonders to behold include old bicycles hanging from the rafters, nude female mannequins as art, a knight’s suit of armor and an old piano encrusted with gems, stained-glass pieces, dominoes and assorted trinkets. Anything but predictable, Notsouh promotes eclectic and indie live music, poetry readings and comedy shows unlike anywhere else in town. Although not everybody gets it, Notsouh is where intelligent conversations take place between energy-company CEOs, visiting Hollywood actors, hipsters and curious newcomers.
