Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony

For more than two decades, the Annual Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony has kicked off the holiday season in the Houston Theater District. Hosted by the Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and the city of Houston, the ceremony welcomes people of all ages to the Grand Foyer of the Wortham Theater Center to watch The Nutcracker’s Sugar Plum Fairy illuminate 8,000 lights on the beautiful 25-foot Christmas tree. Costumed characters from Houston Ballet’s production are on hand to greet the public while local choirs and musical groups perform at the event and guests can enjoy holiday treats.
