Cowboy Mounted Shooting

A popular event at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Cowboy Mounted Shooting has contestants maneuvering horses through an obstacle course while firing two .45 caliber single-action revolvers at balloons set along the course. The speed and agility of both horse and rider are showcased while exhibiting the rider’s talent to accurately hit a target while riding at top speed. Specially prepared blank ammunition that can still pop a balloon 15 feet away is used for this event.
