Downtown Skyline with Heritage Plaza and Wells Fargo Plaza
A world-class metropolis, Houston stands tall as the fourth most populous city in the country and the largest in Texas and the entire southern region. Known for being home to strong business and cultural communities, Downtown Houston is the city’s central business district where many prominent companies have installed their headquarters. Moreover, the downtown area features a stunning collection of historic and modern skyscrapers that make up one of the largest skylines in the United States, blending iconic architecture with thoughtful urban planning and green spaces and echoing the hardworking energy and innovation of those who call Houston home. The broad shoulders and perfect location of Heritage Plaza, one of Houston’s landmark buildings, puts it at the center of the best views of the city skyline. Well known because of its central location in the business district skyline, Heritage Plaza features stepped granite on the top that resembles a Mayan pyramid, which was inspired by the architect’s visit to the Mexican Yucatán Peninsula, while the crown of the building resembles a bald eagle spreading its wings. Formerly the Allied Bank Plaza and First Interstate Bank Plaza, the Wells Fargo Plaza is a skyscraper at 1000 Louisiana Street in Downtown Houston. Currently the 16th tallest building in the country, Wells Fargo Plaza is the second tallest in Houston. From street level, the building boasts 71 floors, but there are four more stories below street level. Locals claim the building was designed when seen from the air, its structure forms two semicircles that are arranged to mimic a dollar sign.
