Seven Wonders

Each standing 70 feet tall, the “Seven Wonders” are seven towering stainless-steel pillars in Sesquicentennial Park along the banks of the Buffalo Bayou. Built to celebrate and commemorate the 150th birthday of the region, altogether they feature 1,050 illustrations of “Heroic Themes” created by Houston children born in the sesquicentennial year. Enchanting pieces of artwork, at night, the glowing columns reflect the waters of the Buffalo Bayou and illuminate the Wortham Center, the home of Houston’s internationally acclaimed opera and ballet companies.
