Hermann Square

Hermann Square achieves a simple elegance with a reflecting pool down the steps from City Hall. A public park since 1914, Houston’s City Hall was built on its western edge in 1939. The remaining square is lined with huge live oak trees landscaped around the reflecting basin. Today, Hermann Square is the civic center of the city, bordered by Houston City Hall, the Julia Ideson Library and Tranquillity Park, making it a popular gathering place for lunching professional year round and a prime location for special events.
