Houston International Festival – iFest

Each spring, the Bayou City hosts the Houston International Festival (iFest Houston) an annual, multicultural music and arts festival. The city’s authoritative celebration on both visual and performing arts, iFest Houston spans more than 20 acres within the city’s downtown plazas and parks for 10 days. The focus of the celebration is dance, culture and music from countries around the world with an aim to encourage and foster the city’s multicultural ties and diversity. The festival also is one of the best places in the state to try international food and sample wares from vendors selling handicrafts and all types of artwork that span eight artist markets featuring more than 400 individuals. In 1987, the festival gained international billing and sought out a different country to honor every year. Organizers also added plenty of world flair into the mix, ideally complementing other participating regional and national artists. Today, as the name implies, the major global component emphasizes the true nature of the festival.
