Children’s Museum of Houston

Found at the heart of the Houston Museum District, the Children’s Museum of Houston is the ranked No. 1 out of 190 children’s museums in the United States and 15 in Texas. Founded in 1980 by a group of Houston parents who wanted to elevate early childhood development to a communitywide priority, the museum opened originally in 1984 in a space leased from the Blaffer Art Gallery then moved to a leased space on Allen Parkway before making its permanent home in the Houston Museum District in 1992. Today, the museum services more than 1 million children and their families each year in 39,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits that make learning personal and fun.
