U.S. Men’s National Rugby Team, The Eagles vs. Ireland

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston welcomed world-class international rugby as the U.S. Men’s National Rugby Team, The Eagles, hosted the Tier 1 nation of Ireland; it was one of the only international matches held on American soil that year. The teams previously faced off in 2009 and 2011 at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. The Americans struggled in the scrum, and the Irish slowed the Eagles’ attack just enough to remain perfect against the United States with a 15-12 victory dominated by penalties and penalty kicks on both sides.
