Galveston Island Beach Revue - Bathing Beauties Contest

A vintage-inspired event that officially kicks off Galveston Island’s summer season the third weekend in May, the Galveston Island Beach Revue features a crowd-pleasing star attraction known as the Bathing Beauties contest. The revue features around 40 contestants from around the country showing off their best chic, retro-era swimsuits reminiscent of the original Beach Revue from the 1920s and ’30s and vying for cash prizes and top honors. Echoing the “good ol’ days” of Galveston’s summertime history, the event takes place on Galveston’s historic shoreline, showcasing classic pinup styles the likes of Esther Williams, Marilyn Monroe and Bettie Page that heat up the beaches. The Beach Revue ends with a vintage baseball game played by 1860 rules and featuring authentic equipment and team uniforms from the era.
