Houston Ballet - The Nutcracker

A wonderful tradition for families each December, The Nutcracker has been performance by the Houston Ballet since the 1970s in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center. This high-quality production is complete with extravagant handmade costumes and sets that help tell the beloved story of a little girl who is given a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve and encounters the frightful King Rat before taking on a wondrous journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. Audience members get to experience amazing special effects, including a Christmas tree that “grows” to 40 feet, 200 pounds of “snow” falling during the snow scene and a cannon firing on stage.
