AIG Building and The Royalton with Downtown Skyline

Roughly bounded by U.S. Highway 59 to the south, Allen Parkway to the north, Bagby Street on the east and Shepherd Drive to the west. Neartown is an area that includes the neighborhoods of Cherryhurst, Courtlandt Place, Hyde Park, Montrose, Vermont Commons, Mandell Place and Winlow Place. Collectively, the neighborhoods are more commonly known as the Montrose area and is home to many artistic locations and attractions. Owned by the American International Group, Inc., the American General Center office complex in is located along Allen Parkway in Neartown Houston. The America Tower, also known as the AIG building is the tallest in the complex; completed in 1983, it serves as the headquarters for AIG American General. A magnificent 33-story high-rise one mile west of Downtown Houston, the Royalton is a residential building that affords quick access to all areas of the Inner Loop, Downtown Houston and Galleria. Considered a landmark by many Houstonians, the Royalton is a fitting beacon within the affluent neighborhood of River Oaks. Towering above Allen Parkway, the high-rise is topped with a signature sculptured metal crown.
