Thanksgiving Day Parade
Established in 1949, Houston’s Thanksgiving Parade today attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers. Each year, around 3,000 participants prepare the show for nearly 400,000 spectators with the main attraction being a procession of floats, giant balloon figures, marching bands and drill teams that fill the streets of Downtown Houston with fun and joy. Following the parade, which travels along Texas, Main and Dallas and ends near the convention center, the Texas “bigger-is-better” tradition is made manifest with the lighting of 80 Christmas trees along Post Oak Boulevard in the city’s Uptown district.
