Central Library - Jesse H. Jones Building
The Central Library of the Houston Public Library in Downtown Houston consists of two buildings, including the Jesse H. Jones Building, which contains the bulk of the library facilities, and the Julia Ideson Building, which contains archives, manuscripts and the Texas and Local History Department. Opened in 1976, the Jesse H. Jones Building received its current name in 1989, and it often is incorrectly called the “Downtown Library.”
